North Yell Development Council have recently donated a large quantity of resources and equipment to support end of life care in Yell.
The donation includes two air flow ripple mattresses, two riser/recliner chairs, six sets of state-of-the-art Wendy Lett sliding sheets and a large wheelchair, as well as other smaller items, including drinking supplies, and a variety of continence products.
These can be provided to Yell residents to support their quality of life and enable them to be cared for at home for longer.
Mark Lawson, chairperson for NYDC said ‘‘North Yell Development Council are delighted to support our fantastic community nurses in the great work they do. We hope that the equipment we have been able to provide will go some way to helping those in our community in need of their assistance.”
Julie Smithies from the Community Nursing Team said “we would like to express our gratitude for the donation of equipment that will enable us to provide immediate solutions to patients approaching end of life and with other acute illness that require nursing at home. The provision of airflow mattresses, slide sheets, recliner chairs and other aids to promote and maintain clients’ independence will be invaluable at enabling patients to stay at home surrounded by the people who they love.”
